The Story

One afternoon in a hair salon while Sarah was keeping her friend Frances company during a three hour cut and color. This was not just a normal haircut, rather a highly crafted short, yet chic, 'do' with just the right weave of bright highlights. Sarah was awed by the skill and artistry of the stylist, expressing how difficult it must be for people to groom and style themselves. A playful conversation started with Fran laughing about the "technical" difficulties of getting the right trim "down there." She shared her habit of shaving designs into her private hair, while expressing her frustration about the challenges of holding up a mirror and shaving at the same time. "If only I could see and be hands free," she lamented, and several other women in the salon agreed. Fran seized on the excitement and yelled out, "Shouldn't there be a special mirror just for those places?" "Yes!" Sarah replied. For days she thought about this mirror that could be the solution to unnecessary cuts, niks, bad shaving jobs and much more. Almost two years later, peeka-bu was born.

The Founder

Sarah Nehamen, the founder of Peeka-Bu, LLC, is a born entrepreneur. From a young age, she created and sold custom t-shirts and other items to her friends and neighbors. Later, she helped sell products for major corporations while working as an Art Director for BBDO NY. During this last tenure was when she realized she wanted to create her own brand of innovative, beauty enhancing products. Sarah is a devout yoga practitioner and teacher, talented painter, and enthusiast of personal health and positive body image.
